San Juan was our next stop, where we had scheduled a tour of the Bacardi rum distillery. Maggie and I had booked a tour on a previous cruise, but it was closed on the day we arrived because of a holiday. Mother's Day. It's a huge celebration on the island, so we made other plans.

A bus was waiting just off the dock to drive us to the site about 20 minutes away. There was some traffic, and the pot holes in the road were numerous. Our driver was very friendly and talked about the island as we traveled along. The bus parked in a visitor's section where we waited for a tram to pick us up. They gave us each two tickets for a glass of free rum punch we would get when we returned. We took the tour, and upon our return found that they were closing, so we were lucky to get one drink before we left.

We had signed up for the three specialty restaurants on board. The first meal was a lunch buffet at Chops with a tour of the kitchen.

Our hostess, Ardeth, worked with our waiter, Sandro to keep our plates full of the delicious bounty before us. And then we had to go check out the dessert table, which was filled with parfaits, Danish, cake, and custards. We should have left our belts in the room!

We were amazed with the wonderful weather we were encountering. Smooth seas and gorgeous clouds were all around us.

We even found time for our favorite recreation, snoozing on the deck chairs.

The theatre that night hosted a singing group, Savannah Jack. They performed musical selections from country, rock & roll, and blues that had us all stomping our feet. Here you see Terry and Lars auditioning with the band.
